  • Did you know2023

Hubei Xingfa is the world's largest single STPP (Sodium Tripolyphosphate) producer — a compound known in the food industry as food additive E451, used in processed meats, frozen seafood, and processed cheese. But Xingfa's broader phosphate chemistry platform — particularly its phosphoric acid production — feeds directly into the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supply chain. LFP is the dominant battery chemistry in China's EV market (BYD Blade Battery, Tesla Standard Range) and is now expanding globally as the preferred chemistry for grid storage and lower-cost vehicles. The same Chinese company that puts the binding agent in deli ham also supplies precursors for the battery in millions of electric cars.

  • Capacity2023

Hubei Xingfa operates 60,000 MT/year of dedicated STPP capacity at its Xingshan facility — the world's largest single-site STPP plant — representing 20-25% of global STPP supply. China produces approximately 80% of global STPP, with Hubei Province hosting the majority of Chinese production due to its phosphate rock resources and hydropower. A provincial-level disruption in Hubei (flooding is a historical risk given the Three Gorges Dam) would simultaneously affect global food additive supply, laundry detergent supply, and water treatment chemical supply from the same geographic concentration.

  • Origin2023

Hubei Xingfa Chemicals Group was established in 1984 in Xingshan County, Hubei Province — a region with significant phosphate rock deposits and cheap hydroelectric power from the Qingjiang River (and proximity to the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze). The combination of phosphate rock feedstock and cost-advantaged electricity drove Xingfa to scale into the world's largest single STPP manufacturing site. Listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (600141.SS), it serves food processors, detergent manufacturers, water treatment facilities, and increasingly battery materials producers globally.
