Producer
Innovative Water Care (formerly Clearon Corp)
One of three US domestic trichlor producers; formerly Clearon Corp., acquired by Solenis (Platinum Equity-backed specialty chemical company) on September 9, 2022, and formally renamed Innovative Water Care, LLC on July 31, 2023. Operates a 42-acre bulk manufacturing site in South Charleston, WV plus a separate tableting/packaging facility. Produces both trichloroisocyanuric acid (trichlor) and dichloroisocyanuric acid (dichlor). One of the original petitioners in the 2004 antidumping case against Chinese trichlor imports. With BioLab's Conyers, GA plant permanently closed (May 2025) and the market effectively down to three plant locations, Clearon/IWC is one of the two non-OxyChem survivors.

Did you know2021
Trichlor (TCCA) and dichlor (SDIC) pool tablets are the same chlorine compounds used for emergency drinking water disinfection in disaster response, humanitarian aid, and small municipal water systems in developing countries. WHO-standard emergency water treatment kits rely on the same TCCA tablet chemistry as backyard pool maintenance. During the 2021 US trichlor shortage, emergency water response planners flagged that recreational pool chemical supply disruptions were directly impinging on humanitarian water treatment tablet stocks — the leisure consumer market and the global health infrastructure were competing for the same product from the same three US manufacturers, a conflict that supply chain analysts tracking water treatment separately from pool chemicals had not modeled.
World Health Organization ↗Origin2023
Innovative Water Care was previously Clearon Corporation, a South Charleston, West Virginia trichlor manufacturer that was one of only three US domestic producers of trichloroisocyanuric acid pool tablets. Solenis (Platinum Equity-backed) acquired and rebranded it in 2022-2023. The company became prominent in 2020-2021 when BioLab's Conyers, Georgia trichlor facility was destroyed in a fire during Hurricane Laura, eliminating a major US production node and triggering the pool chemical shortage of 2021.
