LCY Chemical Corp. was founded in 1965 as part of Taiwan's petrochemical development program — one of dozens of downstream chemical companies built to process naphtha cracked at CPC (Chinese Petroleum Corporation) and later Formosa Petrochemical. LCY grew from general petrochemicals into specialty chemicals through investment in electronic-grade purification technology, eventually achieving the PPT-level purity required for semiconductor fabs. The transformation from a commodity propylene-chemistry producer to one of only two global sources of semiconductor-grade EIPA — without any public recognition — is one of the quieter stories in the critical materials supply chain.
