Almost everything that heats by electricity has a heating element inside it, and Backer (NIBE Element) is one of the world's largest makers of them. Its tubular, sheathed and foil elements are in ovens, kettles, toasters, dishwashers, dryers, water heaters and coffee machines — and increasingly in EV battery and cabin heaters. So a single Swedish element maker is embedded across the entire heating-appliance landscape and now the electric-vehicle one too. The element is an anonymous internal part — no appliance brand advertises whose heater it uses — yet the supply is concentrated among a few specialists, which makes this humble resistive coil a quiet cross-appliance dependency, and a growing EV-supply node as cabin and battery heating scale. The heat in your oven, your dryer and an EV's cabin can come from the same component supplier.

Backer's parent, NIBE Industrier, sits on the strategic side of heating too — NIBE Climate Solutions is one of Europe's largest heat-pump makers, central to the electrification-of-heating push replacing gas boilers. So one Swedish group spans both ends of electric heating: the simple resistive element that brute-forces heat inside an appliance, and the heat pump that moves heat efficiently to warm a building — plus, through NIBE Stoves, the wood and pellet stoves that are the low-tech biomass alternative. As policy pushes the electrification of heat, NIBE is positioned across the whole spectrum, from the toaster coil to the home heat pump to the wood stove. It's a rare case of a single group covering resistive, heat-pump and combustion heating at once, which makes its component (Backer) and system (heat pump) businesses both beneficiaries of, and exposed to, the same heating-transition policy.
