Yangnong Chemical Group Co., Ltd.
Yangnong Chemical Group (Nanjing, Jiangsu Province; Shanghai Stock Exchange: 600486) is China's largest synthetic pyrethroid insecticide manufacturer and one of the world's largest producers of cypermethrin, bifenthrin, and deltamethrin active ingredients. Yangnong's Nanjing manufacturing base produces pyrethroid active ingredients and intermediates for both domestic Chinese agricultural use and global export. Pyrethroids are essential insecticides for crop protection, malaria-prevention bed nets, and household pest control. Yangnong is the dominant supplier of generic pyrethroid AIs to global formulators including Bayer, FMC, and regional agrochemical companies.

Yangnong Chemical Nanjing Manufacturing Base →
CNJiangsu · lab
Yangnong Chemical's primary pyrethroid AI manufacturing complex in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Produces cypermethrin, bifenthrin, deltamethrin, and pyrethroid intermediates. This facility is one of the largest synthetic pyrethroid production sites in the world, serving both the Chinese domestic market and global export customers including agrochemical formulators and WHO procurement programs for malaria-prevention bed nets.
Yangnong Chemical Yangzhou Production Complex →
CNJiangsu
Yangnong Chemical's Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province complex is China's largest integrated neonicotinoid production site, producing generic imidacloprid, acetamiprid, and thiamethoxam technical grade. The site manufactures ~20,000+ tonnes/year of neonicotinoid active ingredients for global export markets. Yangzhou sits along the Yangtze River, facilitating bulk chemical export via Nanjing and Shanghai ports. Environmental regulators have periodically cited Yangzhou chemical parks for neonicotinoid contamination of nearby waterways.
Yangnong Taixing Pyrethroid Production Base →
CNJiangsu · chemical-plant
China's largest pyrethroid production base; approved capacity 7,310 MT/year including bifenthrin 3,800T, cyhalothrin 3,000T, plus 4,500T intermediates.

Did you know2021
Yangnong is the world's largest synthetic pyrethroid manufacturer, and their deltamethrin and permethrin are simultaneously the active ingredients in WHO-approved insecticide-treated bed nets (ITNs) used for malaria prevention in sub-Saharan Africa AND agricultural crop protection insecticides for soybeans, cereals, and vegetables globally. Approximately 2.2 billion ITNs have been distributed in sub-Saharan Africa since 2000; the insecticide impregnated in these nets (primarily permethrin and deltamethrin) comes largely from Chinese pyrethroid manufacturers including Yangnong. Malaria killed approximately 620,000 people in 2021; ITNs are the primary prevention tool. The same Nanjing, China pyrethroid production that protects Brazilian soybeans from armyworms is what prevents malaria transmission in Mozambique. A supply disruption or Chinese government export restriction on pyrethroid AIs would simultaneously constrain crop protection globally and ITN production for malaria-endemic regions.
World Health Organization ↗Concentration2022
Chinese generic neonicotinoid producers — Yangnong Chemical (Yangzhou, Jiangsu), Shandong Sino-Agri United Biotechnology, Yancheng Limin Chemical, and approximately 15-20 smaller producers — collectively export generic neonicotinoid technical grade to over 80 countries. After Bayer's imidacloprid patents expired in the 2000s-2010s, Chinese manufacturers entered the global market at prices 60-80% below Bayer's branded product, driving significant volume share gain in developing world markets. India, Brazil, Southeast Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa now predominantly use Chinese-sourced generic imidacloprid. In developed markets (US, Canada, Australia), Chinese technical grade is imported by US formulators and repackaged under US brand names for sale to farmers — the originator brand on the label often conceals Chinese active ingredient inside. The US has no domestic neonicotinoid active ingredient manufacturing capacity outside of Bayer's US formulation operations (which use German-manufactured technical grade).
AgriBusiness Global ↗Capacity2021
Yangnong Chemical's Taixing subsidiary received approval for 7,310 tons/year of pyrethroid production (bifenthrin 3,800T, cyhalothrin 3,000T, plus specialty types) plus 4,500T/year of intermediates — making a single Jiangsu site the world's most concentrated pyrethroid manufacturing node.
