New natural gypsum quarry specifically opened to replace declining FGD synthetic gypsum supply; targeting 550,000 t/year in 2025. Represents the industry's documented response to coal plant retirements removing FGD supply from the market. USG (now Knauf) is the first major wallboard company to publicly open a new US quarry in response to the FGD crunch.
