Messer – Bush Dome / Cliffside Federal Helium System (Amarillo, Texas)
The former US National Helium Reserve, established 1925; purchased by Messer (Germany) from BLM for $460M in June 2024. Assets: Bush Dome Reservoir (storage, 12 mi NW of Amarillo), Cliffside Field wells and gathering system, 423-mile crude helium pipeline from Kansas/Oklahoma, Federal Crude Helium Enrichment Unit (CHEU). Delivery capacity ~600-650 MMcf/yr to refiners. Historical peak storage 30.5 Bcf (1996). A German-owned company now controls US strategic helium infrastructure that was built over a century of public investment.
