Nippon Soda Nihongi Chemical Plant (Niigata Prefecture)
Nippon Soda's Nihongi Plant (Niigata Prefecture, Japan) is the originating and primary manufacturing site for acetamiprid technical grade (since commercial launch early 1990s). As acetamiprid is the only first-generation neonicotinoid with retained EU approval for most outdoor uses, the Nihongi plant has faced increased demand from European formulators substituting acetamiprid for banned imidacloprid/clothianidin/thiamethoxam. The plant also produces clothianidin under Nippon Soda's co-development agreements with Bayer. Niigata Prefecture is on the Sea of Japan coast — logistics run through Niigata Port.
