Orano Georges Besse II Enrichment Plant
Georges Besse II centrifuge enrichment plant at the Tricastin nuclear site, Drôme Department, France. Operated by Orano (formerly AREVA). Capacity ~7,500 tSW/year (one of the largest single enrichment sites in the Western world). Replaced the decommissioned Georges Besse I gas diffusion plant on the same site. Orano is 45% owned by the French government (through CEA) and holds ~15% of global enrichment capacity. Tricastin also hosts uranium conversion (UF6) facilities run by Orano. The Tricastin nuclear complex is one of France's most critical nuclear fuel cycle sites.
