Uses Columbia River hydroelectric power — enabling ~50% reduced CO2 footprint vs. natural gas-powered CF production. Produces automotive-grade CF for BMW i series (i3/i8 carbon fiber body shells). Moses Lake chosen for low-cost renewable electricity. Primarily serves BMW automotive composites; not qualified for SCBA or aerospace pressure vessel applications. SGL Carbon's non-automotive CF business has contracted significantly.
