Tengiz Oilfield Gas Plant — Kazakhstan
World's largest Claus sulfur recovery unit at a single oilfield: Tengiz crude is 17% sulfur by weight. TCO exports via Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) to Novorossiysk — a single-pipeline dependency on Russian territory. CPC terminal at Novorossiysk damaged March 2022 by storm, disrupting Kazakhstan exports. Tengiz Future Growth Project (first oil Jan 2025) will significantly increase both oil and sulfur output. January 2026 GTES-4 power station fire caused force majeure and field shutdown — CPC export shipments halted.
