Tsingshan's massive integrated nickel pig iron and stainless steel complex at Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Central Sulawesi. Uses laterite nickel ore from Indonesia to produce nickel pig iron (NPI) at ~$6,000/tonne — dramatically below primary nickel cost of $15,000-20,000/tonne. This single Sulawesi industrial park fundamentally disrupted global nickel and stainless steel pricing from 2014-2021. Produces austenitic stainless feedstock for global supply.
