Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle A— General Military Law › Part II— PERSONNEL › Chapter 53— MISCELLANEOUS RIGHTS AND BENEFITS › § 1058
When a military law enforcement officer at a scene finds that someone was hurt or a weapon or dangerous object was used in a domestic violence incident, they must act right away to stop more harm and, within 24 hours, report the incident to the right commander and to the local military family advocacy representative for that area. After that report, a multidisciplinary family advocacy committee must meet as soon as possible to review the case and give the commander recommendations. The Secretary of Defense, and the Secretary of Homeland Security for the Coast Guard when it is not operating as part of the Navy, must write rules that define "domestic violence" for this rule and any other needed rules. Military law enforcement official: a person allowed to arrest service members under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
