Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle A— General Military Law › Part I— ORGANIZATION AND GENERAL MILITARY POWERS › Chapter 15— MILITARY SUPPORT FOR CIVILIAN LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES › § 277
The Secretary of Defense must require civilian law enforcement agencies getting help under this chapter to reimburse the Department of Defense when 31 U.S.C. 1535 (the Economy Act) or other law requires it. Federal agencies that get law-enforcement help or support for a national special security event from National Guard troops on duty under 32 U.S.C. 502(f) must repay those costs. Money repaid can go to the account that paid for the help or to a reimbursement account, at the Secretary’s choice. The Secretary may waive repayment if the help is part of normal training or gives the DoD unit or Guard personnel a benefit similar to training.
