Allows certain Coast Guard health workers to give care anywhere in the United States, the District of Columbia, or any U.S. commonwealth, territory, or possession. They can treat patients no matter where the provider or patient are, as long as the care is part of their authorized federal Coast Guard duties. Who qualifies: a Coast Guard member, a civilian Coast Guard employee, a Public Health Service member assigned to the Coast Guard, or a health worker credentialed at a federal medical site or a location the Secretary names. They must have a current license to practice (for example, medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, or another health field) and be doing authorized Coast Guard work. The words “license” and “health-care professional” are defined in section 1094(e) of title 10.
