Title 15 › Chapter 80— FASTENERS › § 5403
Manufacturers and distributors must not, when selling or offering fasteners from one lot, knowingly lie about or fake the lot’s conformance records, the fasteners’ identity, markings, chemistry, strength, or other properties, or the maker’s insignia. Saying a fastener meets a “consensus standard” does not mean it meets every rule in that standard. The same is true for contract references to parts of a standard. If fasteners are made only to a consensus standard, any end-of-line testing the standard requires to check the grade marking must be done by an accredited laboratory.
