Title 16 › Chapter 35— ENDANGERED SPECIES › § 1534
The Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture (for National Forests) must set up and run a program to protect fish, wildlife, and plants, including species listed as endangered or threatened under section 1533. To carry out the program, they must use their land-acquisition and related powers under the Fish and Wildlife Act of 1956, the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, and the Migratory Bird Conservation Act. They may buy, accept donations of, or otherwise acquire land, water, or rights in them, in addition to any other land-buying powers they have. Money made available under chapter 2003 of title 54 can be used to buy those lands, waters, or interests.
