Summary

People who serve in the Public Lands Corps or work as resource assistants and who also hold an approved national service position under the National and Community Service Act can get a national service education award if they meet the award rules. How long the award lasts, what it can pay for, and how much it is are set by the national service rules. If a Corps participant or resource assistant has federal student loans, a lender must give a loan forbearance while they are serving if the borrower asks in writing. The forbearance must follow the Education Secretary’s rules.
