Alaska national preserves must be managed like national parks, but hunting, fishing, trapping, and subsistence taking are allowed under applicable State and Federal law. Under section 3126, the Secretary can close areas or set times when those activities or entry are not allowed for safety, management, or to protect plants and animals; except in emergencies, such closures require consultation with the State agency.
