Title 16 › Chapter 55— COASTAL BARRIER RESOURCES › § 3504
Stops new federal money or new federal help for anything inside the System, unless section 3505 says otherwise. That ban covers building or buying structures and related infrastructure (including roads, airports, boat landings, bridges) and projects to stop erosion or stabilize shorelines. Money may still be used on units added under section 3503 shown on maps S01–S08 and LA07 for purposes that do not encourage development, and money may be used in any unit if an emergency threatens life, land, or nearby property. A spending or aid is "new" if, before the land was added to the System under this chapter or the Coastal Barrier Improvement Act of 1990, no construction or purchase money had been appropriated or no legally binding commitment had been made. By 2 years after November 25, 2024, the Secretary, working with HUD, must write rules that make property owners or landlords in communities affected (as the Fish and Wildlife Service director decides) tell prospective buyers or renters if the property is in the affected area.
