Summary

The Secretary can use federal park powers and other legal tools to manage and protect the park’s natural resources. To keep the park as it is now, the Secretary must not allow any development or visitor project that would harm the park’s special plants and animals, its landforms and physical features, or any historic places and buildings the Secretary names. The Secretary can still create trails, viewpoints, exhibits, and services to help people enjoy and learn about the park, and can develop parts of the park that are suited for public use.
