§577g Payment for Additional Lands Acquired in Northern Minnesota

Summary

The Secretary of the Treasury must pay Minnesota, at the end of each fiscal year, an amount equal to three‑quarters of 1 percent (0.75%) of the fair appraised value of national‑forest lands in the area named in section 577d, using national‑forest receipts that are not otherwise appropriated. The money is split among the three counties based on each county’s share of that appraised value. The Secretary of Agriculture must set the fair appraised value every 10 years and that decision is final. The first payment is due after the close of the first full fiscal year following June 22, 1948. The rules in section 500 do not apply to these lands.
