§590l Expansion of Domestic and Foreign Markets for Agricultural Commodities; Advances for Crop Insurance; Transfer of Funds to Corporation

Summary

When the Secretary finds that using these powers will help carry out clause (5) of section 590g(a) or will help keep a steady supply of farm products that meets consumer demand at prices fair to both farmers and buyers, he must use whatever part of the chapter’s appropriated funds he thinks necessary to grow domestic and foreign markets, look for new markets, or remove and handle surplus crops or products. The Secretary may give advances to producers to help pay crop insurance premiums to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation. Those advances are sent straight to the Corporation to pay the producer’s premium. Advances go only to producers already in, or who agree to join, the program under section 590h. The Secretary sets the terms for advances and may send estimated funds ahead to the Corporation; any unused money must be returned.
