§6884 Cooperation and Coordination

Title 16 › CHAPTER 87C — MODERNIZING ACCESS TO PUBLIC OCEANS › § 6884

Last updated Oct 17, 2026|Official source

Summary

Allows the Secretary to team up with non-Federal groups — like States, Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian groups, interstate and regional ocean bodies, data experts, private companies, nonprofits, and colleges — and to make agreements with those experts to help carry out the work under this chapter. The Secretary must, as much as possible, work with several Federal agencies (for example Interior, Agriculture, Defense, Energy, EPA, Coast Guard, and Army Corps) so federal databases about geospatial data on public outdoor use of the exclusive economic zone can work together. When sharing geospatial data, the Secretary must make clear the data are subject to applicable Federal, State, and Tribal laws.
