Title 16 › Chapter 1— NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter XXII— LASSEN VOLCANIC NATIONAL PARK › § 201
Reserves certain parcels of land in California, described by township and section lines under the Mount Diablo meridian, and sets them aside as Lassen Volcanic National Park. Those lands are taken out of the pool of land that can be settled, lived on, sold, or given away under United States land laws. Anyone who tries to settle or live there after the park is created is a trespasser and can be removed, unless an exception below applies. Holders of valid claims, locations, or entries made under U.S. land laws before August 9, 1916, keep their rights and may fully use and enjoy their land. Private, city, or State lands inside the park that were owned before August 9, 1916, are not affected by this change or by sections 202 and 203. Land inside the park that on August 9, 1916, belonged to or was claimed by a railroad or other company for indemnity selection may not be used later to claim replacement lands anywhere.
