You cannot steal, take, trick someone to get, try to get, remove, hide, embezzle, or destroy any mail or anything inside it from mailboxes, post offices, collection boxes, mail routes, letter carriers, or other official mail drop places. Taking mail left for pickup or left next to a collection box is included. Buying, keeping, or hiding mail you know was stolen is also illegal. If guilty, you can be fined, put in prison for up to five years, or both.
