Title 18 › Part I— CRIMES › Chapter 109A— SEXUAL ABUSE › § 2244
Makes it a crime in certain federal places — like federal waters or lands, federal prisons, or any prison or facility where people are held under a federal agency’s order or contract — for someone to knowingly have sexual contact with, or cause sexual contact by, another person. The punishment depends on how serious the contact would be if it were a sexual act: fines and up to 2 years in prison, up to 3 years, up to 10 years, or any term of years up to life in prison. If the sexual contact happens without the other person’s permission in those places, the person can be fined and/or jailed for up to 2 years. If the victim is under 12 years old, the prison term (except for the life sentence option) is doubled.
