Serious bodily injury — has the meaning given in section 2119(2). Spouse or intimate partner — includes a spouse or former spouse, someone who shares a child, someone who lives or lived with the abuser as a spouse, or someone in a romantic or intimate relationship (judged by length, type, and how often they interacted); for section 2261A the same rules apply but refer to the target of stalking. It also covers anyone similarly protected by the domestic or family violence laws where the injury happened or where the victim lives.
