After Counsel gives written notice that it will represent a designated party under section 288c(a), the AG is relieved of responsibility, cannot act in the matter without Senate approval or request, and must transfer relevant materials to Counsel. The AG can still join or file amicus briefs and must notify Counsel under section 530D of title 28.
