§1473 Technical Assistance for Parent Training and Information Centers

Summary

The Secretary can give technical help, either directly or by funding eligible groups, to support parent training and information centers (those getting help under section 1471) and community parent resource centers (those under section 1472). The term "eligible entity" is defined in section 1461(b). That help can cover things like coordinating parent training, sharing research-based information, promoting technology and assistive devices, reaching underserved parents (including low-income and limited English proficient families), including students with disabilities in regular classrooms, easing transitions between early intervention, preschool, elementary, secondary, and postsecondary settings, and encouraging alternatives to formal disputes such as mediation. Any eligible group that gets funding must make partnership agreements with the appropriate regional resource center and, when needed, the regional educational laboratory under section 9564 to improve parent-professional collaboration.
