Title 22 › Chapter 59— FASCELL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM › § 4901
Creates the Fascell Fellowships to place U.S. citizens in jobs at U.S. embassies or consulates abroad for between one and two years in positions usually held by local staff. Fellows get short-term, on-the-ground experience and may study the country or its language. To apply, a person must be a U.S. citizen and a student, teacher, scholar, academic, or other individual with international affairs or language expertise and a working knowledge of the host country’s main language. The Secretary of State must actively recruit women and members of minority groups.
