No one may fire, punish, suspend, expel, fine, or treat unfairly a participant, beneficiary, or other person for using rights under an employee benefit plan, this subchapter, section 1201 of this title, or the Welfare and Pension Plans Disclosure Act. No one may punish a person for giving information or testifying in any inquiry or proceeding about this chapter or the Welfare and Pension Plans Disclosure Act. For multiemployer plans, plan sponsors or others must not discriminate against a contributing employer for using rights under this chapter or for giving information or testifying before Congress. Enforcement is handled under section 1132 of this title.
