Joining the Job Corps does not free a person from their duties under the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. 3801 et seq.). A person may stay in the Job Corps for no more than 2 years. They can get one extra year only to finish an advanced career training program (section 3198(c)); if a person with a disability would likely meet Job Corps graduate standards (see section 3192(5)); for time spent doing national service at a Civilian Conservation Center; or if the Secretary allows an extra year for a special case.
