Defines three terms used in this part. Commonwealth Army veterans are people who served before July 1, 1946, in the organized Philippine military while those forces served with U.S. forces under the President’s July 26, 1941 order, including organized guerrilla units later recognized by U.S. Army commanders, and who left service under conditions other than dishonorable. New Philippine Scouts are people who served in the Philippine Scouts under section 14 of the Armed Forces Voluntary Recruitment Act of 1945 and left service under conditions other than dishonorable. Service‑connected disabilities are injuries or illnesses the Secretary finds were caused or made worse by that service while on duty, under the laws the Secretary administers.
