The Director of the Institute gives awards to senior researchers with distinguished biomedical research on Alzheimer’s and related dementias; award money must support that research and may train junior researchers. Awards may go to researchers at centers under section 285e–2 or other public or nonprofit entities only if recommended by the National Advisory Council on Aging. Each award lasts one year and may be renewed for no more than six additional consecutive one-year periods.
