Title 42 › CHAPTER 55 — NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY › SUBCHAPTER III — MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS › § 4367
EPA officers and employees who work under the Act and who have any known financial interest in a person that applies for or gets grants, contracts, or other financial help under the Act must file a written report each year with the EPA Administrator. The first report was required starting February 1, 1978, and each report must cover the previous calendar year. These reports must be available for the public to see. The EPA Administrator had 90 days after November 8, 1977 to define "known financial interest" and to set up how reports are filed, checked, and enforced. The Administrator can also exempt specific nonpolicymaking jobs from this rule. Anyone who knowingly breaks this rule can be fined up to $2,500, jailed up to one year, or both.
