Title 45 › Chapter 19— ROCK ISLAND RAILROAD EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE › § 1007
If a Rock Island Railroad worker accepts help under the employee protection deals or new career training in this chapter, they give up other worker-protection benefits they might get under the Bankruptcy Act, subtitle IV of title 49, or under other contracts — except for the Washington, D.C. labor-protective agreement signed March 4, 1980. Rock Island employees who can get help must, within 120 days after the related agreement or benefit schedule starts, tell the Board whether they want the help here or want the other benefits instead. If they choose the other benefits, this chapter does not change the order, status, timing, or responsibility for paying those claims. Workers cannot get this help (except moving costs) while they are working for a carrier temporarily running Rock Island lines or after they get a qualified job offer from a carrier buying those lines.
