§60303 Fees for Compliance Reviews of Liquefied Natural Gas Facilities

Summary

The Secretary of Transportation must charge a fee to anyone who files with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission an application for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility whose design and construction costs are at least $2,500,000,000. The fee pays for any review the Secretary does to check that the project follows the safety rules in part 193. The Secretary cannot charge this fee and also charge under section 60117(o) or 60301(b) for the same review. The Secretary will set up rules for collecting the fees. A federal, state, or local agency may collect the fees and be paid a reasonable amount for that work. The money goes into the "Liquefied Natural Gas Siting Account" inside the Pipeline Safety Fund in the Treasury.
