An agency may give free housing and meals to eligible employees while they are on a temporary assignment supporting a contingency operation. The agency may also store, for free, or pay to store, one personal car owned or leased by the employee or a dependent during that temporary assignment. These choices are optional and are in addition to any other benefits the employee can get. covered employee — a federal agency or military department employee (not a government‑controlled corporation) sent on a temporary change of station to support a contingency operation. temporary change of station — a move from the employee’s official duty station to a temporary duty station where the employee is eligible for expenses under section 5737. contingency operation — defined in title 10, section 1482a(c).
