Defines key words used in this chapter. Aeronautical and space activities — has the same meaning set out in section 20103 of this title. Field related to space — any school subject or discipline that helps people understand, study, develop, or use space, such as the sciences, engineering, space technology, education, economics, law, and public administration. Panel — the space grant review panel. Person — any individual, public or private organization (including colleges, consortia, institutes, or labs), or any State or state agency. Space environment — the area beyond the Earth's sensible atmosphere. Space grant college — a college or university the Administrator names a space grant college. Space grant program — a program run by a listed institution or agency that includes 2 or more education projects and at least one of research, training, or advisory services. Space grant regional consortium — an association the Administrator names as such. Space resource — any tangible or intangible benefit that can only come from space activities or advances in space-related fields. State — any U.S. State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, or any other U.S. territory or possession.
