Title 7 › Chapter 35A— PRICE SUPPORT OF AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES › Subchapter V— EMERGENCY LIVESTOCK FEED ASSISTANCE ACT OF 1988 › § 1471a
The Secretary must provide emergency feed help to keep livestock alive and cared for in any state or part of a state where a livestock emergency exists because of disease, insect infestation, floods, drought, fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, storms, hot weather, or other natural disasters. The Secretary must also give this help to farmers, ranchers, or aquaculture operators in counties next to an affected county if they meet the program’s eligibility rules. Those producers can apply for help any time during the eight-month period that starts on the day the Secretary announces the emergency.
