Title 7 › Chapter 9— PACKERS AND STOCKYARDS › Subchapter V— GENERAL PROVISIONS › § 228a
The Secretary can ask the Attorney General to go to federal court for a short-term order to stop or limit someone from doing business under this law. This can happen if the person has not paid for livestock, meat, live poultry, or poultry growers; failed to send net sales money to the person owed; ran the business while insolvent or otherwise broke the law in a way that could cause serious harm; or does not have the required bond. The court may issue the temporary order without requiring a bond if the Secretary shows good reason. With the Attorney General’s approval, the Secretary’s lawyers may represent the Secretary in that court action.
