Title 7 › Chapter 79— PORK PROMOTION, RESEARCH, AND CONSUMER INFORMATION › § 4811
Hold a referendum of pork producers and importers between 24 months and 30 months after the order is issued. Only people who were producers or importers during a representative time chosen by the Secretary may vote. The order stays in effect only if a majority of those voting approve it. If the majority rejects it, the Secretary must stop collecting assessments within 6 months and end the order as soon as possible. The Secretary’s costs for the vote must be paid from Board assessments, and the Secretary decides how the vote is run. Amendments to the initial order use the same process.
