§4914 Amendment Procedure

Summary

Before changing a plan, the Secretary must make the proposed changes public, ask for public feedback, and hold a vote under section 4912. Changes required by the Watermelon Research and Promotion Improvement Act of 1993—specifically the change in section 7 that removes the assessment refund and the change in section 8 that makes importers follow the plan—must be voted on as separate items before the Secretary alters the plan as it was the day before December 14, 1993. If the vote covers adding importers, eligible voters must include the producers, handlers, and importers who would be covered.
