3.6 Million Acres Managed Under New Plan
The Bureau of Land Management approved a new Resource Management Plan that became effective on December 20, 2024, covering about 3.6 million acres of public land in southwestern Wyoming. The plan applies to lands in Lincoln, Sweetwater, Uinta, Sublette, and Fremont counties and sets the new, immediately effective rules for how those lands are managed.
Updated Rules for Energy, Grazing, and Wildlife
The Approved RMP revises the management framework and explicitly evaluated uses including energy and minerals development, renewable energy, transmission infrastructure, lands and realty actions, and livestock grazing/rangeland management, plus protections for cultural resources and wildlife habitat. These updated land-use guidelines will guide how those activities are allowed or managed on BLM lands in the planning area.
