Published Date: 3/21/2025

Notice

Summary

The U.S. checked if Malaysia’s plastic shopping bags were being sold too cheaply here from August 2022 to July 2023 and found they weren’t. This means no extra taxes or fees will be added to these bags right now. Businesses importing these bags can keep things running smoothly without surprise costs.

No New Duties on Malaysian Plastic Bags

If you import polyethylene retail carrier bags from Malaysia that were sold to the U.S. between August 1, 2022 and July 31, 2023, the Department of Commerce found they were not sold at less than normal value. Commerce will not add antidumping duties for that period, so importers and businesses that buy those bags can avoid surprise extra taxes or fees for those shipments.
