Summary

The U.S. says Malaysia is selling dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) in America for less than it should, which isn’t fair to U.S. businesses. Because of this, extra duties will be added to these imports starting now to keep things balanced. If you’re a buyer or seller of DOTP, get ready for some price changes in 2023.

Extra Duties on DOTP Imports

The Department of Commerce determined that dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) from Malaysia was sold in the United States at less than fair value for the period January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023. As a result, extra duties will be added to DOTP imports from Malaysia, and buyers or sellers of DOTP should expect price changes in 2023.

Protection for U.S. DOTP Producers

Commerce found DOTP from Malaysia was sold at less than fair value and will impose extra duties on those imports. These duties are intended to address unfair pricing and protect U.S. businesses that produce or compete with DOTP.
