Smithsonian Spending and Exhibit Limits
The order directs the Vice President and OMB to work with Congress so future Smithsonian appropriations prohibit spending on exhibits or programs that "degrade shared American values" or "divide Americans based on race." It also directs that the American Women’s History Museum "celebrate the achievements of women" and "do not recognize men as women in any respect in the Museum."
Independence Hall Infrastructure Upgrade
The Secretary of the Interior must provide sufficient funding, as available, to improve infrastructure at Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, and the work is to be complete by July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. If you visit the park in Pennsylvania, these improvements are scheduled to finish by that date.
Reinstate and Review Federal Monuments
The Secretary of the Interior must determine whether, since January 1, 2020, public monuments, memorials, statues, markers, or similar properties under Interior jurisdiction were removed or changed in ways that perpetuate a "false reconstruction of American history." The Secretary must, consistent with law, take action to reinstate pre-existing monuments and ensure content does not inappropriately disparage Americans but instead focuses on the achievements and progress of the American people.
