Published Date: 8/19/2025

Notice

Summary

The Tuolumne Water District gets the green light to keep running the Columbia Water Supply Hydroelectric Project for another year, from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026, while waiting for a new license. This means no interruptions in power or water services, and the project can keep humming along without extra costs for now. If a new license isn’t ready by next summer, the current permission automatically renews, so the flow stays steady!

One-year annual license issued

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued an annual license to Tuolumne Water District for the Columbia Water Supply Hydroelectric Project, effective August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026, or until a new license or other disposition is issued. The license lets the district keep operating the project under the prior license terms during that period.

Automatic renewal if no new license

If a new license or other disposition is not issued on or before July 31, 2026, the annual license automatically renews without further order or notice under 18 CFR 16.18(c). This means the district may keep operating beyond July 31, 2026 unless the Commission orders otherwise.

Continue operation under prior license if section 15 not applicable

If the Columbia project is not subject to section 15 of the Federal Power Act, Tuolumne Water District is authorized to continue operating the project under the terms and conditions of the prior license until a subsequent license or other disposition is issued.

Service continuity for local customers

The notice keeps the Columbia Water Supply Hydroelectric Project operating between August 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026, which means customers served by the project should continue receiving water and power service during that period without a licensing-related interruption. If no new license is ready by July 31, 2026, the permission renews automatically so service can continue.
