Athens Compressor Upgrade Adds Capacity

Texas Eastern proposes replacing four 1950s turbines (32,000 hp total) with two newer turbines (36,200 hp total), a net increase of about 4,200 horsepower at the Athens Compressor Station in Athens County, Ohio. The project is intended to provide 50 million cubic feet per day of additional firm natural gas transportation capacity to Kentucky Utilities' power plant in Danville, Kentucky and is estimated to cost $223,033,746.
